I have heard it said that there are a great many 'old' in this era but few true 'elders' ... since 'elderhood' in that sense -- of having true wisdom to share and being able to do so in a way that is effective and life-giving -- is rarer than perhaps it could be in our times.
indeed! in this case "elder" being "person of advanced age"!
